Audubon Park
Raised Center Hall
This 2,922 square-foot four-bed two-and-a-half-bath Audubon Center Hall underwent a massive transformation over time. The couple is an engineer and a sales manager for a TV station. They wanted to create a space that combined New Orleans and Cuban cultures. Their family artwork is featured throughout the house with lots of opportunities for transformative seating as they like to entertain. The home progresses from transitional to modern as you move from the front to the back.
Different Cultures Combine
This previous addition provided more modern living space in the form of a sunken den with a view. They needed help utilizing the first room and making it flow into the family room. Since they like to entertain, we added a slipcovered linen sofa with acrylic swivel chairs, along with a 4 piece leather ottoman that could be separated and moved around for extra seating. A sculptural bamboo chair next to a functional bar with brass butterflies connects it to the outside flora and fauna and leaves plenty of inside space for moving around.
It also serves as a library with built-in bookshelves and a music room with a sound system. Custom oversized gunmetal finish mirror to create interest and delineate the spaces. It is also separated by an island with a concrete top that divides the family room but creates an open view between the two.
Family room with custom performance fabric L-shaped sectional for lounging and oversized round side table to double as a game table with a glass top and fluted wood base along with an oval metal coffee table. Featuring a lamp and decorative items, the table still leaves space for games or dining while watching TV. Items were incorporated to bring in various textures of wood, cement, glass, and metal and incorporate the outside garden view through a set of large French doors and corner windows.
Caribbean Charm in Crescent City
The guest room features an antique mahogany three-quarter bed that was converted into a queen. Custom draperies with a banana leaf pattern tie into the throw pillows on the bed and the accent chair to add a little Caribbean flair.
The dining room got a complete revamp to make the space feel more open and airy with an oval glass table and swivel chairs, along with a lacquered vellum buffet, custom mirror, and more family artwork. It also opens up into the backyard. The pantry doors are painted green to tie into the dining room drapery.
The primary bedroom received new bedding, a custom-covered bench complete with a set of gesso demilunes, and matching mirrors. Though the walls appear black, they are deep indigo, bringing a calm and relaxing feel to the room. Her dressing room was themed around the existing art on the wall and the pink accent chair. Hollywood-style vanity and velvet stool were added to complement the chair and artwork while being functional. The walls are the same deep indigo as the primary.
Sleek and Sophisticated Center Hall
The center hall is painted in a high gloss dollar bill green with white trim. The matte pendant lights contrast the high gloss walls and project a night sky on the ceiling. Off the center hall, there’s a multi-purpose office for her that also features a custom twin XL day bed for when the kids return to visit. He also has an office off the center hall for days he works at home.
