TANGA WINSTEAD was born in rural North Carolina but her creativity led her to dream of travel, design, and color, from an early age. As fate would have it, she made her home in New Orleans. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Barton College in NC and an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from the American College in London, UK.
Parlaying a career in marketing, sales and fashion into the world of interiors, she found her niche in New Orleans where she believes this diverse array of experience simply broadened her scope of design possibilities. “For me, design is something I can’t switch off; it is always present – especially when I travel. My job is to convey those ideas to the client and hope they are as excited as I am about seeing them come to life!” says Winstead. With more than 10 years of design experience and seven years managing a showroom in New Orleans, she enjoys both traditional and modern bright whites and bold colors, forming her own eclectic, transitional style. Indoors or out, residential or commercial, Winstead loves a challenge and an opportunity to provide a solution for all your design needs.
Known for discerning the individual client’s taste and lifestyle, melding the present with the past and making each creation unique, she has managed to create signature looks from antique to modern while maintaining a sense of the client’s own individuality. A firm believer in form and function, as well as texture, Tanga has designed and furnished residential and commercial venues throughout the southeast. “I believe the finished product should reflect the owner’s unique lifestyle or environment,” says Winstead. She has been published in Gambit, The Times Picayune, St. Charles Avenue Magazine, New Orleans Magazine, New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles as well as Louisiana Homes and Gardens. Also featured in Big Easy Style and New Orleans New Elegance.
House calls, color consultations, editing and refurbishing along with lighting, room or full service design are available to meet your individual needs.
